ATTORNEY HIGHLIGHTS

Shareholder Marian Williams Scalise is a Diplomat of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, a national organization comprised of leading trial advocates in the area of professional negligence law.  It is the only organization accredited by the American Bar Association to identify and board certify attorneys in the areas of medical malpractice and legal malpractice.

Shareholder C. Jo Anne Wessinger Hill served as assistant legal counsel to former South Carolina Governor Carroll A. Campbell, as well as on former South Carolina Governor David M. Beasley's Ad Hoc Committee on Health Care.

Joe Thoensen joined Richardson Plowden in 2007 as an associate in the Columbia office. He focuses his practice in civil litigation, insurance defense, and products liability.

Mr. Thoensen's experience includes:

  • Advising insurance clients in products liability, premises liability and other personal injury matters
  • Routinely appearing in state and federal courts throughout South Carolina on behalf of corporations and insurance companies
  • Successfully negotiating and mediating a wide variety of personal injury claims
  • Defending hundreds of asbestos exposure claims throughout South Carolina on behalf of multiple product manufacturers
Mr. Thoensen graduated from the University of Georgia in 2000, where he was a HOPE Scholarship recipient and on the Dean’s and President’s Lists. In May 2004, Mr. Thoensen earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. During law school, he was projects editor for the Real Property, Probate & Trust Journal.

Mr. Thoensen is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Richland County Bar.
