Mason A. Summers is a shareholder in Richardson Plowden’s Columbia office. A Columbia native, he focuses his practice on appellate advocacy, insurance coverage, environmental and regulatory law.
In his appellate practice he has represented clients in numerous appeals before the South Carolina Court of Appeals, the South Carolina Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Prior to joining Richardson Plowden, Mr. Summers served as staff counsel in the Office of General Counsel for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), where he specialized in environmental litigation and represented the agency in the state’s circuit and appellate courts, as well as before the South Carolina Administrative Law Court and South Carolina Public Service Commission.
Mr. Summers graduated with honors from Clemson University
in 1995, earning a bachelor of arts in political science. In
1999, he received his juris doctor from the University of South
Carolina School of Law, where he was on the Dean's List and
actively involved in the law school's pro bono program. Upon
graduation, he clerked for the Honorable John M. Milling, Circuit
Judge, Darlington, SC.
