Marian Williams Scalise is a shareholder of Richardson Plowden in the Myrtle Beach office. She focuses her practice on medical malpractice, professional malpractice and insurance defense. She defends hospitals, physicians, surgeons, chiropractors, dental specialists, nurses, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Mrs. Scalise is Richardson Plowden's first female shareholder and is a third-generation lawyer.
Mrs. Scalise graduated cum laude from the College of Charleston in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and minors in English and pre-medicine. In 1994, she earned her juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Real Estate Transactions. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar, as well as the Horry County Bar Association and Horry County Women Lawyers Association.
Mrs. Scalise is an active participant in local civic and community organizations, including Bethany Christian Services where she serves as the Advisory Board chairman. A member of Ocean View Baptist Church, she has served as chairman of the Personnel Committee, the Teaching-Learning Center and the Social Committee. She also is a Sunday School teacher.
In her spare time, Mrs. Scalise can be found cheering for her two children at their sporting and school events, raising money for various charities, or enjoying numerous activities and events along the Grand Strand with her husband and children.
