Walton, U.S. District Court, all of which took place in Washington, D.C.

Michael J. O'Sullivan joined Richardson Plowden in 2011 as an associate attorney in the Myrtle Beach office. He focuses his practice in general litigation, criminal law, insurance defense, government defense liability, civil rights, and professional malpractice defense. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University in 1996 and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2005.

Before joining Richardson Plowden, Mr.O'Sullivan worked as a prosecutor with the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office for four years where he gained a great deal of trial experience. Mr. O'Sullivan has brought more than 40 cases to trial for charges ranging from magistrate level offenses to murder. The majority of trials have been for DUI offenses. Mr. O'Sullivan also clerked for the Honorable Paul E. Short, Jr., and served as a staff attorney at the South Carolina Court of Appeals in Columbia.

Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. O'Sullivan worked as a federal compliance safety and health officer at the United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration. In this role, he performed safety and health investigations in workplace accidents or fatalities, wrote citations for violations of OSHA law, and defended these citations in legal proceedings. After the 9/11 terrorist attack, Mr. O'Sullivan worked in his capacity as a compliance officer at the World Trade Center Disaster Site where he performed safety and health monitoring and provided safety and health training to law enforcement and firefighters.

Mr. O'Sullivan is a former veterinary assistant who loves animals and is active in animal rights causes.
