William C. McDow is a shareholder of Richardson Plowden in the Columbia office. He focuses his practice on hospital/healthcare law and nursing home litigation, insurance defense, professional malpractice and transportation law

Mr. McDow's experience includes:

  • Successful prosecution of criminal cases of all types, including murder trials, while working as an assistant solicitor.
  • Representation of many medical malpractice and nursing home defense cases.
  • Earned mediation certification by the South Carolina Supreme Court.
Mr. McDow graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina (USC) Lancaster in 1984 and USC in 1986. While an undergraduate at USC Lancaster, he served as student body president. He also was named Pledge of the Year and Man of the Year by Alpha Tau Omega at USC in Columbia, S.C. Mr. McDow received his juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1989. After graduation, he clerked for the Honorable J. Ernest Kinard, Jr., until 1991, and then worked as an assistant solicitor in the Fifth Circuit Solicitor's Office before joining Richardson Plowden in 1995.

Mr. McDow is married with two children. He is a member and deacon at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia, S.C. In 2006, he also served as the moderator for its Board of Deacons.
