ATTORNEY HIGHLIGHTS

A shareholder with Richardson Plowden, David A. Anderson is a graduate of The Citadel and served in the United States Army in various command and staff positions until 1992. He received The Bronze Star for action in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Anderson retired with the rank of Colonel in 2006 from the National Guard and received the Legion of Merit Award for his service.

Leslie A. Cotter, Jr. has been extensively involved in the South Carolina Bar, where he has continuously served as a member of the House of Delegates since 1992 and has served two terms on the Nominating Committee and Practice and Procedure Committee.

Shelton W. Haile is an associate of Richardson Plowden in the Columbia office. He focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense, nursing home litigation, general litigation and civil rights.

Mr. Haile's experience includes:

  • Representing and advising clients in medical malpractice, nursing home, and general litigation matters.
  • Successfully defending clients in 42 U.S.C. §1983 actions.
Mr. Haile graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of South Carolina in 2000 and was elected to membership in the Golden Key National Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. In 2004, he received his juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was on the Dean's List.

He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Richland County Bar Association, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Haile has served on the South Carolina Bar's Law Student Liaison Committee and Young Lawyers Division's Professional Development Committee. Mr. Haile has completed the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association's Trial Academy and is a member of the Palmetto Health Institutional Review Board.
