Drew Hamilton Butler joined Richardson Plowden in 2002 as
an associate in the Columbia office. He focuses his practice
on corporate defense litigation, products liability defense,
premises liability defense, personal injury litigation and
insurance defense litigation.
Mr. Butler's experience includes:
- Successfully tried cases in the United States District Court and Circuit Courts of South Carolina.
- Initiated, defended and resolved a variety of legal conflicts through trial verdicts, mediation and pre-trial motions.
- Serves as a special prosecutor for the South Carolina Attorney General's Office, where he prosecutes criminal domestic violence cases for the State of South Carolina.
Mr. Butler graduated from Rhodes College in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in political science. While attending Rhodes, Mr. Butler was inducted into the Political Science Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha, and was actively involved in the Intercollegiate Mock Trial Program. He was named Intercollegiate Mock Trial All-American in 1999. Mr. Butler also was an active participant in collegiate sports and received an NCAA Baseball and Football letter in 1996 and 1997.
In 2002, Mr. Butler earned his juris doctor from Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, where he also received his Certificate in Dispute Resolution and Advocacy for his scholastic concentration in trial advocacy. While a law student, he was president of the Delta Theta Phi Legal Society.
Mr. Butler is a member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association and the South Carolina Bar.
